MIS: How do I add a contact?

Overview

This article explains how to add a new contact from All Contacts. Contacts can be added to pupils and staff members.

Instructions

Follow these steps to add a new contact:

  1. Select Contacts.
  2. Select All Contacts.
  3. Select Create:
  4. From New Contact - Step 1: Basic Details:
    1. Enter the contact's details. As a minimum, you must enter the contact's Surname and Forename.
    2. We would recommend also adding a mobile telephone number, email address and address for the contact.
  5. Select Next.
  6. From New Contact - Step 2: Relationships, optionally:
    1. Select a pupil or staff member that the contact is Related To.
    2. Add a Relation Type.
    3. Check whether the contact has Parental Responsibility in the case of a pupil, is the Emergency Contact for the pupil / staff member, or has a Court Order Preventing Communication (in the case of a pupil).

      If you select Court Order Preventing Communication, when using Comms Hub to communicate with parents of pupils, users will be prevented from selecting the contact.

  7. If the contact has relationships with multiple pupils / staff members, for each additional pupil / staff member:
    1. Select Add.
    2. Repeat Step 6.
  8. Select Save.

Outcome

The new contact is added to the MIS. A confirmation message is displayed confirming that it has been successfully created:
