Overview
This article explains how to create a hyperlink to a OneDrive file / document in Juniper Websites.
Prerequisites
- This option will only be available if your school website administrator has set up the Microsoft OneDrive Integration within your website. See Juniper Websites: How do I set up OneDrive in Juniper Websites? for more information.
Instructions
Follow these instructions to link to a OneDrive file / document:
- Navigate to the area of the website where you would like to create the hyperlink.
- Highlight the text to use for the hyperlink.
- Select the Edit tab.
- Select the Link icon to open the Link Info window:
- Select Browse Server:
- Select Microsoft OneDrive from the Website Files window to view the files stored in OneDrive, along with any OneDrive folders:
- Locate the file that you want to share.
- Roll over the file to view its link share settings:
- Only files shared with anyone will be visible be users accessing your website (no lock icon).
- Private or restricted access files (for example, those shared with named people) can be linked to, but end users will not be able to view the content. Private files display a lock icon, restricted access files don't always, they may appear unlocked, but have restrictions. If your file has restrictions, you will be warned of this in Step 10 below.
-
If you need to change the shared settings so that anyone can view the file, you must do this through OneDrive, not Juniper Websites:
- Locate the file in Microsoft OneDrive.
- Select the three dots next to the file name (More Actions)
- Select Share.
- Select the cog next to Copy link (Link settings).
- Select Anyone.
- Select Apply.
There might be a delay in OneDrive permission changes reflecting in File Manager due to caching.
- Select the file that you want to link to.
- If the file is private / has restrictions, the following warning displays:
- Select either:
- Insert link to continue to Step 11 (for example, if you are going to change the settings, using the guidance in Step 9 afterwards).
- Go to file to open the OneDrive file online.
- Cancel if you decide not to create a link.
- If the file is private / has restrictions, the following warning displays:
- The Link Info page displays with details of the link populated:
- Select OK to close the Link Info window and insert the link.
Outcome
The hyperlink to the OneDrive file / document will be added. When a user selects the link, they will be able to view the contents of the file.
Many types of files will be converted into PDF to ensure their security and accessibility. This includes, Microsoft Word (DOC and DOCX), Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT and PPTX) and Microsoft Excel (XLS and XLSX) files.
