Overview
This article explains the reasons that social media posts are not being displayed in your homepage feed, along with how you can resolve the problems.
Facebook and Instagram feeds rely on third-party Meta integration. Occasionally, changes made by Meta may affect the connection between your social media accounts and your website - these are out of our control.
Common Causes
- Your Instagram account is not linked to a Facebook Business account with a Facebook page.
- Your Facebook account is not set up as a Business Account.
- Your Facebook page does not have a personal user account with full access.
- Meta’s authorisation settings have changed, requiring re-authorisation.
Prerequisites
- You must be an administrator.
- If you want your Instagram feed to appear on your website, your Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Business account that has a school Facebook Page.
Instructions
Follow these steps to troubleshoot / resolve the problem:
-
Follow the appropriate guide below to deactivate and re-authorise your social media account:
- Juniper Websites: Disassociate and re-authorise access to Facebook.
- Juniper Websites: Disassociate and re-authorise access to Instagram.
If this is unsuccessful, and you see an error like the following, proceed to Step 2:
- Follow these steps to check / update you Facebook access settings:
- Log in to your Business Account on www.facebook.com.
- Select the Account icon (top right) and select your school’s Facebook page.
- Select the Account icon to open Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- Locate Page Setup in the left-hand menu.
- Under Page Access, select View to open Facebook Page Access Settings.
- When the People with Facebook Access section is empty:
- Select Add New and enter the details of a personal Facebook account. An email is sent to the owner of the account.
- The user must accept the email invitation they receive or approve the invite directly from the Notifications panel when logged into their personal Facebook account.
- After the invite is accepted (its status will no longer be red), try re-authorising your social media account again, this time, using the personal account that has access.

What to do if you are unable to find the person you are trying to add to your page's access settings
You may not be able to find a person to add them to your page's access settings in Facebook for one of the following reasons:
- The individual is not one of your Facebook friends (for classic Pages). If you’re using the classic Page experience, you need to be Facebook friends with the person before they display in search results.
- You're using the New Pages Experience. In the New Pages Experience, you don’t add people by name, but by the email linked to their Facebook account. If you search by name, they will not be listed in the search results.
-
The wrong role type has been selected. There are two separate areas under page access:
- Facebook access (gives full control, like switching to the page).
- Task access (more limited, for example just managing posts or ads). The person you're trying to add must match the role type you're trying to assign.
- Their profile privacy settings. If an individual's Facebook profile is "locked down", they might not appear in the search results.
- The individual hasn't confirmed their Facebook account. If someone has a new Facebook account and hasn’t verified their email / phone number, you will not be able to find them when search for them.
