Submitting a sitemap means telling Google where to find the file on your site - it doesn't involve uploading the sitemap or sending it to Google. To find out how to do this refer to Google's article Learn about sitemaps for more information (opens a new tab).
Sitemaps are important as they provide information about the relationship between different pages, videos and other files on your site. The sitemap is used by search engines (for example, Google) to crawl your website and make sure that up-to-date page information is displayed in search results. As Google crawls your site, it indexes the pages it comes across, storing the information so that the content on each page can be searched by an individual using Google.
You usually don't need to submit your sitemap for a small website, but for more complex sites it can help Google crawl more efficiently. If your Google search information is outdated, consider manually resubmitting your sitemap. In due course, Google should revisit your site and crawl it. The changes you've made to your website could then be reflected in Google's search results.
When you submit your sitemap it doesn't guarantee that Google will crawl your site. Juniper Education can't do anything to influence Google when or if to visit your site and crawl it. We can only provide the link to Google's guide.
