Juniper Websites: Creating a Calendar Event

With Calendars, you can keep parents informed about upcoming events at your school.  Not only that, you can combine multiple calendars in a single view, to display events from specific departments.

Create an event

Navigate to the calendar view where you want to add a calendar event:

  1. Select Event from the Create tab (or right-click on the event date within the calendar, and select Create Event) to open the Calendar Event window:
    01CreateCalendarEvent.JPG
  2. Enter your event Title.
  3. Select the Start Date and End Date, including the From and Until times as required. If the times are left blank, the event will be created as an All Day event.
  4. Enter a suitable Description. You can format this as required.

Making the event recur

Don't create recurring events manually in the website calendar if the event is already set up as a recurring event in an external calendar. This could result in duplicate events. Be aware that deleting a single occurrence of the event in your external calendar will not remove the corresponding manually created occurrence in the website calendar.

To set up the event to repeat in the calendar, scroll down the calendar entry and check This event recurs.  The following options and properties are revealed.

  1. Recurs Daily - Select to make your event recur daily, enter how often you would like this to occur (for example, enter 2 for every other day), and enter an end date:
  2. Recurs Weekly - Select to make your event recur weekly, enter how often you would like this to occur and the day of the week (for example, enter 2 and select Mon, for every other Monday), and enter an end date:
  3. Recurs Monthly - Select to make your event recur monthly, enter how often you would like this to occur and enter an end date. When selecting your reoccurrence, select either a specific day each month for the event to reoccur, or a specific day, for example, the 1st Monday of each month:~
  4. Exceptions - If there are any dates that the event will not happen, for example during school holidays or when a teacher is absent, you can exclude the date range:

Adding attachments

If you have a file that you would like to share, for example, a trip letter with further information for parents, select Upload Attachment and select the file you would like to upload from your device:

Sharing to Facebook

The Share option allows the event to be shared to a Facebook account. It is only visible if it has been enabled by your website administrator (See Juniper Websites: Social Media Integration for further information).

  1. Select Share.
  2. Select Generate Facebook post.

Selecting categories and saving

  1. Select the Calendar Category to add the event to:
  2. Select Save to add the event to your calendar, or select Send for approval (as appropriate).
