KS4 & KS5 MAT Dashboard: Where do the estimates used in Progress 8, SPI and Value Added calculations come from?

For KS4, Progress 8 is calculated based on Attainment 8 Estimates for each student, and these are selected by the Sisra Administrator of an Analytics school when publishing a Data Set or Assessment Collection as a report.

Similarly, SPI is calculated based on the Data Collaboration year selected, where this has been enabled for that particular dataset.

For KS5, the Value Added calculations are derived from the Value Added national data year selected for the cohort within each Analytics school.

To check which estimates are being used for a specific data set, click the 'Settings' focus area from the top drop down, and then 'Data Collections'.

Select the Key Stage and cohort this relates to from the dropdowns at the top of this page, then click on the desired Data Collection name.

You will then be able to see a list of schools with this data pulling through, along with the publishing options selected including 'A8 Estimates' and 'Data Collaboration' for KS4 or 'Value Added Data Year' for KS5.

We would recommend all reports in the selected cohort are published with the same estimates to ensure consistency with the figures. For current cohorts, we'd usually recommend publishing with the latest A8 Estimates and VA National Data available, until the year relevant to that particular cohort becomes available.

If the estimates need to be changed for any particular dataset, a Sisra Administrator in that school would need to republish that dataset within Analytics for this to be applied.
