Sisra Analytics: KS3/4 - How do I complete the Matching page? (Admin)

Overview

This article explains the purpose of the Matching page and how to complete it.

Each cohort has a universal Matching page for all types of grades data, such as Exams, Targets, and Assessments. This is the area where your EAPs and Grade Methods are assigned to each qualification.

Prerequisites

  1. You must have created at least one EAP and uploaded grades data for your cohort or the Matching page will be greyed out, making it inaccessible.
  2. Open the Matching page, ready to edit:
    1. Select DATA.
    2. Select KS3/4 and Cohort.
    3. Select Grades.
    4. Select Matching.
    5. Select Edit:

Instructions

Follow these steps to complete the Matching page:

  • Select an appropriate EAP from those you have created for your cohort. The EAP is used to define the grade method (grade structure, points, and size) the qualification will use, for example, GCSE 9-1 and BTEC First Award. It also determines on track analysis in the reports if you have entered expected grades into your EAPs.
  • After you have selected an EAP, select whether or not to include qualifications in reports:
    1. To include a qualification in reports, toggle Included to Yes.
    2. To exclude a qualification from reports, toggle Included to No. Qualifications that are not included in reports don't need to have matching completed in order to continue.
  • If you are setting up a KS4 subject (that doesn't have a QN code), or the Use QN and QN Title are not available, go to Step 4 - Select the type of qualification in the KS4 Measure column
    1. Toggle Use QN to Yes.
    2. Enter the qualifications QN code, syllabus, or title into QN Title:
      1. After selecting the QN Title, Sisra Analytics will automatically populate the remaining columns and identify how the qualification counts towards measures. Go to Step 7 - Select a Faculty.
      2. If your qualification is not listed in QN Title, its unapproved and would not count towards school performance measures for that cohort. See Sisra Analytics: KS3/4 - Matching - Unapproved Qualifications / Qualification not listed (Admin) for further information. Go to Step 4 - Select the type of qualification in KS4 Measure.
  • If you do not have the option to use a QN code, or have chosen not to, configure how the qualification counts towards the measures in KS4 Measure. Select from:

N/A Select for qualifications which do not fall into any of the below measures, for example, KS3 subjects that should not be included in school performance measures.
GCSE (9-1) Select for reformed GCSEs awarded 9-1 grades.
GCSE (A*-G) Select for unreformed GCSEs awarded A*-G grades.
AS Level Select for AS qualifications sat in KS4.
L3 Asset Lang Select for Level 3 Asset Language qualifications (eligible to count towards performance measures, despite being smaller than a single GCSE).
L3 FSMQ Select for Level 3 Free Standing Mathematics qualifications (eligible to count towards performance measures, despite being smaller than a single GCSE).
Non-GCSE Select for qualifications which would not count towards GCSE only measures, for example, BTEC and Cambridge National qualifications.
Unapproved Select for qualifications not eligible to count towards school performance measures. Check if a qualification is approved or not using the DfE's list of qualifications, see Sisra Analytics: KS4 - DfE's Key Stage 4 Qualifications, discount codes and point scores for further information.
  • If you do not have the option to use a QN code, or have chosen not to, in Special, select which qualifications should count towards subject specific measures in your reports, for example, Attainment 8 and EBacc.

Listed below are qualifications likely to fall under each nomination, however, check the DfE’s official guidance to ensure they’re nominated accurately. See Sisra Analytics: KS4 - DfE's English Baccalaureate: Eligible Qualifications (EBacc).

Bio/Chem/Phys GCSE/AS Levels in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Comp Sci Selected GCSE/AS Levels in Computing and Computer Science.
English GCSE English Combined (awarded for the last time in 2016), AS Level English Language and AS Level English Language and Literature.
    English Lang GCSE English Language
English Lit GCSE English Literature / AS Level English Literature.
Humanity GCSE History, GCSE Ancient History, GCSE Geography, AS Level Geography, AS History, AS Ancient History, and AS Classics: Ancient History. RE and Humanities should NOT be nominated here.
Language The majority of GCSE/AS Level Languages, for example, Spanish, German, Dutch, Gujarati, and Urdu.
Maths GCSE Maths, AS Level Maths and AS Level Further Maths.
Maths Applications and Maths Methods GCSE Applications or Methods of Mathematics (awarded for the last time in 2016).
Science GCSE Combined Science (and Core/Additional Science, available for the last time in 2017).
  • If you do not have the option to use a QN code, or have chosen not to, manually enter the Barring Code (Discount Code) next to qualifications which share the same code, therefore, discounting each other. Enter any code (official or your own reference) if it's identical for the qualifications which should discount.

Check whether any of your qualifications share the same discount code using the DfE’s Qualifications & Discount Codes spreadsheet (see Sisra Analytics: KS4 - DfE's Key Stage 4 Qualifications, discount codes and point scores).

  • Select the appropriate Faculty for each qualification (if required):

This is useful for Heads of Department / Faculty staff. By setting Faculties, you can group qualifications together in your reports and view a summary of their performance.

Faculties are set up in CONFIG. > Faculty. See Sisra Analytics: How do I group qualifications by faculty in my reports? (Admin) for further information.

  • Select a qualification's Predecessor where applicable to fill in otherwise blank areas in flight paths and tracker data sets. For example, if students take Science in KS3, progressing to Bio/Chem/Phys in KS4, select Science as the predecessor for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. When viewing flight paths, the Science grades will pull through alongside those for Biology, Chemistry, or Physics grades.
  • Indicate whether a qualification is Current or not. This is useful when tidy your matching page or to remove qualifications that you do not wish to be included in the Data Collaboration:

    1. Toggle Current to Yes for a qualification actively taken by students.
    2. Toggle Current to No to indicate a historic qualification, no longer taken by students. When toggled to No, the qualification will be moved to the Historical section at the bottom of the page. Historical qualifications can still appear within the reports if the Included column is set to Yes. For example, you may only use this to set a historical KS3 subject to No, for example, Science, if your students are now taking KS4 qualifications such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Select Save Changes.
    1. All included qualifications must be matched and highlighted green to publish your grades data
    2. All current qualifications must be fully set up with QN codes to publish with the Data Collaboration.
    3. If you have entered QNs, Sisra Analytics highlights any issues in DC Exams Check as shown in the example below:
To help resolve any issues, see Sisra Analytics: KS3/4 - Matching - DC Exams Check Troubleshooting. If there are no highlighted issues, check the Grades Management section to resolve any setup issues being flagged. See Sisra Analytics: Grades Management (Admin) for further information.

Outcome

Your matching page is completed. Your qualifications will count accurately towards figures in the reports, qualifications will be included in the Sisra Data Collaboration if you have opted in, and you can publish your grades data.

The Matching page will look similar to the example shown below, but the columns will vary depending on the specific cohort:

Collab is displayed when Data Collaboration has been configured. This highlights how the qualification will count towards the Sisra Data Collaboration. Select ? to view a detailed description of the U (Used in Data Collaboration), C (not used in Data Collaboration) and X (not included in Collaboration) codes:
