Assigning a staff member as SENCO

Events

Overview

This article explains how to configure a member of staff as a SENCO (Special Education Needs Coordinator) for a parents' evening.

When a staff member is assigned as a SENCO, they can be added to parents' evenings, allowing parents of pupils with special educational needs to book a meeting / consultation with them (in addition to the class teacher).

If the staff member designated as a SENCO changes before a parents' evening has been published, the draft parents' evening will be updated to reflect the change in SENCO. Where the SENCO is changed after a parents' evening has been published, the change will not be applied. You will need to manually make the update as required to the individual parents' evening.

Add a SENCO

Follow these steps the first time a parents' evening is created in Events, to add a member of staff as the SENCO:

  1. Open Events.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select General
  4. From General, select Edit:

  5. From the edit window:

    1. Select the appropriate SENCo Staff Member.
    2. Select Save.
  6. When prompted, select Confirm as appropriate to make the update:

On successful completion, the staff member is assigned as the SENCO. A message confirms that the details have been saved:

After successfully assigning a SENCO, parents can book appointments with them.

Change the SENCO

Follow these steps to update the member of staff assigned as SENCO when organising a parents' evening:

  1. Open Events.
  2. Select Settings.

  6. When prompted, select Confirm as appropriate to make the update:

On successful completion, the alternative staff member is assigned as the SENCO. A message confirms that the details have been updated:

After successfully updating the SENCO, parents can book appointments with them.
