Overview
Templates can quickly format your page to use a specific layout and style. Our Content Management System (CMS) comes with several generic templates allowing you to add items such as Columns and Accordions to your content. If you would like additional templates, such as Buttons, Quotes or Announcement blocks that are not already available, please contact us for more information.
Adding a template to your page
- Navigate to the website area where you want to use a page template.
- Select the content where you would like to add the template and select the template icon:
- The Content Templates window will appear. Select the required template to add it to your page.
- If you want the template to replace content already on your page, tick Replace actual contents.
Creating space after a template
If there isn't a space after your template, you can add a paragraph space, to allow you to add further content:
- Select the content area.
- Hover your mouse toward the bottom of the template. A red box with an arrow will appear.
- Select the arrow to create space.
Deleting a template
There are three possible ways to delete a template:
- Method 1: Select the template, and press Delete or Backspace on your keyboard.
- Method 2: Right-click the template, and select remove div.
- Method 3: Remove it from within the source code of the page (select Source in the Edit menu to access the source code).
Troubleshooting
Template problems often occur when they are copied and pasted onto a page or deleted.
The following guidance should help when troubleshooting:
- When you want to create a new template, it is recommended to add the template, rather than copy and paste an existing one which may inadvertently edit the source code of the page.
- If you have a broken template, replace it. Create a new template, as needed, copy and paste the content across from the original template and then delete the original.
- If you are comfortable editing HTML, you may also be able to fix the issue using the Source editor, as it is often caused by an inadvertently deleted piece of code.
If you are unsure or still having issues please contact the support team who will be happy to assist.
If you copy and paste content, use CTRL + SHIFT + V (not CTRL + V) to paste, otherwise, the styling code will be copied along with the text, which can cause problems.
