Juniper Websites: Setting up Calendar Sync

Overview

The Calendar Sync option allows you to link up a Microsoft Office 365 Outlook or Google calendar to your website so that events on your website calendar are kept up to date automatically.

For the best experience, we recommend integrating only with Google or Outlook calendars, as these are the platforms we fully support. While we strive to ensure smooth functionality with other calendar services, we cannot guarantee their reliability, and events may not always sync as expected.

This is an additional feature and will need to be enabled. Please get in touch to talk to us about switching this on for your website. If you subscribe to Classic+, Calendar Sync functionality is included in your subscription.

Prerequisites

  • Your school's calendar must be set to public.
  • You will need the login details for the Microsoft Office 365 Outlook / Google account where the calendar is hosted to link it to your website.
  • You must have a calendar page set up on your website (see Juniper Websites: Creating a Calendar View).

Instructions

    1. Select the Website tab.
    2. Select Calendar Sync.
    3. Select Update settings to open the Calendar Sync Settings:
    4. Select the type of calendar using the options on the left
      • Office 365.
      • Exchange (do not use this option).
      • Google Calendar.
    5. Select Authorise access to Microsoft Office 365 Outlook / Google:
    6. When prompted, enter the required Microsoft / Google account information for the account where the school's calendar is hosted to create the link. Upon successful completion, the Calendar Sync Settings window will reload as follows, listing the type of account authorised (Microsoft Outlook or Google):
  • Set which website categories will contain the imported data, and which calendar to pull through:

    1. Select the Website tab.
    2. Select Calendar Sync.
    3. Select Manage calendars to open Synchronised Calendars:
    4. Select the category within your website calendar that you would like the events from your external calendar to pull through to:
    5. Select the calendar you want to synchronise with. By default the calendar is set to Standard Calendar - you will need to change this to the calendar of your choice:
    6. Make sure that Microsoft / Google calendar is checked and the correct calendar is selected, then select Save.
    7. Close Synchronised Calendars.
    1. Select the Website tab.
    2. Select Calendar Sync.
    3. Select Synchronise now. The Calendar Synchronisation window opens, showing whether the progress is successful:
    4. Close the window.
    1. Navigate to your calendar page
    2. Select the Edit tab.
    3. Select Categories:
    4. Make sure the category that your external events are pulling into is selected. Check it as appropriate.
    5. Select Save.
    6. Select Save now.

Automating the Synchronisation

After setting up synchronisation, contact us so that we can set your synchronisation to happen automatically. This will save you the effort of having to manually synchronise the events every time you make a change to your calendar.
