To comply with GDPR requirements, your Juniper Website includes the option to add cookie notifications on your website. This ensures users are informed about your school's privacy policy and cookie usage, which is a legal requirement.
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of text sent to your browser when you visit a website. They can be used to make it easier to visit the site next time and to tailor your experience. As a website owner, under GDPR, you must ensure visitors are aware of how their data is being used. For example, if you embed third-party functionality into your web pages, you must let your viewers know if the third party is using their data.
The functionality outlined here will help you set up your cookie notification. If a website visitor chooses to allow cookies, they can view the third-party content, but if they choose not to allow the cookies, third-party content will not be displayed.
Cookie Settings
To enable and configure the cookie notification:
Select Cookies and Privacy from the Website tab:
Select Cookie Settings:
The Cookie Settings window opens:
Select the required Cookie Notification Layout from None (doesn't show a cookie notification), Overlay, Bar or Shape. When you select an option, a preview is displayed with any visual settings associated with your selection, for example, when Overlay is selected the following is displayed:
If you choose not to show the cookie notification banner (Cookie Notification Layout is set to None), do so with great caution. While consent isn't needed for essential cookies, any content using non-essential cookies, for example, embedded YouTube videos, will display by default. Normally, by default, such content is hidden without consent, but disabling the banner means it will show automatically. Schools disabling the banner must carefully monitor their website content or re-enable the banner and update the cookie list when adding such content.
Change any of the settings as required - select the position where the icon will appear on the screen, its colour and the cookie version.
By default, the Cookie Version on all new websites is V2. Some older websites may have V1 enabled. The different versions are as follows:
- When V1 is selected, users can choose whether to accept or deny all cookies.
- When V2 is selected, users are given a greater level of control over which cookies they can accept or deny. They are given the choice to accept or deny Essential, Targeting, Functional and Performance cookies. When enabled, a customer can view the specific details of the cookies when they are presented with the cookies screen.
- Select Save.
Cookie List
The Cookie List setting is used to add/edit/delete information about cookies used on your website and publish the details to your website's Privacy Policy.
The cookies that you need to include in the list are determined by the content that is embedded in your website, for example, a Google Map will use cookies that must be listed.
The details of commonly used cookies such as Google Maps and Google Translate can be quickly and easily added to the website without the need for manual entry.

- To delete a cookie entry in the list (as needed), select the delete icon next to the cookie:

The Add Cookie window opens: - Either select a Predefined Cookie Value from the list to populate the values in the window:
- Or manually enter the Cookie Title, Cookie Provider, Cookie IDs, Cookie Type and Cookie Description.

Any changes you have made are reflected in the appropriate section of the Privacy Policy, for example, if you add details for the Google Translate cookie, the Functional Cookies section will list information about the cookie.
