To apply DfE Weighting to your KS4 MAT reports, you first need to ensure that the correct dates on which each school joined your trust are entered. This can be checked via Settings > School Joining Dates. If any dates needs to be edited, you can do so by clicking on the box next to the school name, under the 'Joining Date' column:
Once the joining dates have been configured, you can view reports with DfE Weighting applied, by selecting Insights from the dropdown at the top left of the screen. At the top of the report, tick the 'Apply DfE Weightings' checkbox and the reports will display the weighted data for the trust:
This option is available for all Headline based reports, including:
- Overview
- Attainment 8 & Progress 8
- Basics
- EBacc
| Please note that DfE Weighting is not applicable to subject data, so the 'Apply DfE Weightings' checkbox is not available on subject reports. In addition, weighted MAT measures are only calculated where there are at least three schools with results at KS4, and where those schools have been part of the MAT for at least three academic years. |
Calculations
Weighting will be applied differently for each cohort, based on the amount of time a school has been a member of the trust, when that cohort receives their exam results (the dates associated with each set of grades uploaded to Sisra Analytics are not used for these calculations). This is done so that consistent weighting is applied to a cohort as they move through KS4. So if a school has been in the trust for 3 years by the time a group of students finishes KS4, that's the weighting that will be applied to all KS4 reports for that cohort.
When weighting is enabled, tables on the School Overview reports will display weighting indicators, showing the weighting being applied to each school for the cohort viewed:
The weighting can also be viewed within charts on the same reports, by hovering over the bar for a school, so that the tooltip is displayed:
