Juniper Websites
Overview
This article explains each of the various form related settings:
- Completed form message.
- Form archive date.
- Form security.
- Save form submissions to the site database.
- Send form submissions to an email account.
- Form payments.
Open the form settings
Follow these steps to open the settings for your form:
- Go to your form.
- On the Edit tab, select Settings.
The Form Settings sidebar appears to the right of your form:
Set a completed form message
When a visitor selects Submit on a completed form, you can display your own message. If you don't add one, the message Your form submission has now been sent appears.
Follow these steps to add a completed form message:
- Open the Form Settings sidebar.
- In the Form Message field, enter your message.
- On the Edit tab, select Save, then select Save Now.
Set a form archive date
At certain times of the year, you might not want your form to be available. Use Form Archive Date to archive your form so visitors can't open it.
Follow these steps to set an archive date:
- Open the Form Settings sidebar.
- Next to Form Archive Date, select the calendar icon.
- In the pop-up window that appears, find the date you want and select it.
- On the Edit tab, select Save, then select Save Now.
After the archive date, visitors who open the form see this message: Sorry this item is currently archived and isn't available at this time.
To make your form available again, remove the date in the Form Archive Date field, then publish your change.
Form security
Automated programs online look for forms so they can send junk messages to websites and email accounts.
To stop this, Juniper Websites adds a Captcha Key to your forms by default. A Captcha Key checks that the person completing the form is human.
If the system spots suspicious activity before a form is submitted, it asks the visitor to enter the characters shown in a Captcha image. After they enter the characters correctly, the form is submitted.
Save form submissions to the site database
Before you publish your form, decide how to save the information visitors submit:
- Open the Form Settings sidebar.
- In the Form Submissions section, check the Save to the site database checkbox.
Save your form responses to the database. This makes them easy to export and means you don't lose responses in your emails.
Send form submissions to an email account
You can send a copy of each form submission to an administrator email account. You can also send a response to the person who completed the form, if they provide an email address.
Send an email to an administrator
Follow these steps to send a copy of each submission to a specific email address:
- Open the Form Settings sidebar.
- Check the Send Admin Email checkbox. The administrator email settings appear.
- Complete the settings you need.
-
Email Address - Enter the email address that receives the form submissions.
To add more than one email address, separate them with a comma and no spaces.
- Email Subject - Enter a subject line that makes the emails easy to identify in your inbox, for example, Website Enquiry Form Response.
- Hide Empty Field - Check to send only the fields that visitors filled in.
- Email Prefix & Suffix - The prefix appears before the form responses, and the suffix appears after them.
- Add Placeholder - Add a placeholder from your form to the text. The placeholder appears at the end of the text box, so move it to where you want it in the message.
-
Send an email to the person who completed the form
Follow these steps to send visitors a copy of the form they submitted:
- Open the Form Settings sidebar.
- Check the Send User Email checkbox. The email settings appear.
- Complete the settings you need.
- Field For User Email - Select the field on your form that captures the visitor's email address.
- Include a copy of the completed form - Check this to add the visitor's answers to the email. If you leave it unchecked, the email only contains the prefix and suffix.
- Email Subject - Enter a subject line that makes the emails easy for visitors to identify. For example, Website Enquiry Form Response.
You must set the email field to validate as an email address.
Reply to a visitor's email address
If you check both Send Admin Email and Send User Email, the Reply to Supplied Email Address checkbox becomes available.
Check Reply to Supplied Email Address to use the visitor's email address as the reply address on the administrator email. This lets you reply directly to the visitor.
Not all email services support this feature.
Set up form payments
Before you can use form payments, you must set up payments. Follow the steps in Juniper Websites: How do I set up payments?
After you set up payments, the Form Payment section appears in the Form Settings sidebar:
Follow these steps to set up payment for your form.
- Open the Form Settings sidebar.
- In the Form Payment section, check This form requires payment.
- If the payment is a fixed price, enter the cost in the Fixed Price.
- If the price comes from a field on your form, select that field in the Variable Price Field(s) list.
- To send emails after payment instead of when visitors submit the form, check Send email response on payment.
- To let visitors choose to pay on a regular basis, check Payments can recur. This is useful for regular donations, for example.
If you allow recurring payments, an option appears at the top of your form for visitors to select.
Save your form, survey, or poll
After you add your questions and update the settings, save your form.
- Select the Edit tab.
- Select Save, then select Save Now.
